Through exploration of case studies, videofluoroscopic studies, and evaluation, learners will better understand evidence-based diagnosis and management of esophageal dysphagia.Agenda6:30-7:00: Review anatomy and physiology of the esophagus7:00-7:30: Review of clinical overt/covert signs of esophageal dysphagia; correlation between disease/surgical processes and dysphagia7:30-8:00: Review relationship between oral, pharyngeal and esophageal function8:00-8:30: Outline medical, surgical, and behavioral management of esophageal dysfunction; clinical application of therapy strategiesLearner Objectives1) Learners will understand theoretical and working knowledge of the esophageal stage of deglutition2) Learners will increase diagnostic awareness of esophageal dysphagia during clinical case history, dysphagia evaluation, and videofluoroscopic studies3) Learners will understand the relationship between all phases of ingestion4) Learners will enhance knowledge of management options and treatment techniques for esophageal dysphagiaSpeaker BioDale Gregore, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, a graduate of West Chester State College and Boston University, has over 30 years experience in medical speech pathology. Board certified in swallowing and swallowing disorders, Dale is the Program Manager of Speech Pathology for Christiana Care Health System. She is a Clinical Instructor at University of Delaware and co-teaches the graduate level Dysphagia and Complex Medical courses.Please pre-register on our website.
